Turn Off Autoplay of External Media

We all insert CD, DVD, Pendrive, and other storing device into our system to transfer or copy the data. Inserting these devices is dangerous for our system because sometime it contain infected file like virus, worms, etc and when you insert these device in your system then it is possible that your system get infected because of autoplay. So to turn off autoplay follow below simple steps...

  • Click Start,
  • Click Run,
  • Type GPEDIT.MSC to open Group Policy in the Microsoft Management Console. 
  • Double-click Computer Configuration, 
  • Double-click Administrative templates, 
  • Double-click Windows Components, 
  • Double-click on AutoPlay Policies
  • Then click Turn off autoplay.

Now click on Enable and select "All drives" then click on apply or ok, so that it will turn off autoplay for your all drives and you will secure your computer from infected devices. This setting does not prevent Autoplay for music CDs.
